Scoring & Interpretation

Each question you answered was worth between 1 and 5 points, depending on the option you chose:

  • Option A = 1 point
  • Option B = 2 points
  • Option C = 3 points
  • Option D = 4 points
  • Option E = 5 points

With 25 questions, your total score is out of 125 points. Based on your score, you fall into one of five levels:

  • Level 1: If your score is between 25 and 50

  • Level 2: If your score is between 51 and 75

  • Level 3: If your score is between 76 and 100

  • Level 4: If your score is between 101 and 112

  • Level 5: If your score is between 113 and 125

Hi,

Let me take this moment to congratulate you on successfully completing this self-assessment.

Your awareness and willingness to assess your current state is the first crucial step towards improvement.

Your As-Is Business Processes Maturity level of 1 indicates that your organization is at the ‘Initial’ stage of  Business Processes Maturity.

In a nutshell, this indicates –

🔴 Processes are largely unstructured and unpredictable.

🔴 Minimal to no formal documentation of processes exists.

🔴 Limited use of technology and automation.

🔴 No formal process ownership or governance.

🔴High variability in process execution – tasks are performed differently by individuals or teams.

🔴 Issues are addressed only after they become problems.

🟢 Documenting 3-5 core processes, identifying and appointing process owners for these core processes can significantly boost operational efficiency.

🟢 Identifying quick win opportunities and setting foundational metrics like KPIs can help track performance and drive future improvements.

… and while this score might seem discouraging, it is important to recognize that every organization starts somewhere.

Understanding and strategically advancing Business Processes Maturity is a game-changer for any organization.

Let me tell you something.

You can’t fix what you don’t fully understand.

Without a clear understanding of your current process maturity, you risk wasting time and money on solutions that don’t provide the desired results.

Before discovering the power of a structured maturity assessment, many organizations (including some of my clients) were flying blind.

Days were filled with –

🔴 Endless meetings trying to coordinate disjointed processes.

🔴 Frustration over repeated mistakes and quality issues.

🔴 Budget overruns from inefficient resource use.

🔴 Ad-hoc improvement efforts with little to show for it.

➡️ The toll on morale, productivity, and the bottom line was immense.

The problem was always the same.

Organizations tried to solve their process inefficiencies by throwing new software, tools, or consultants at the problem.

… without first understanding their “AS IS” state.

They pushed for wholesale changes without fully grasping the nuances of their existing processes.

… which only lead to resistance, wasted resources, and often, regression rather than improvement.

However, by starting with a clear, honest assessment of your AS IS capabilities, you –

✅ Build a solid foundation for sustainable improvement.

✅ Gain buy-in from stakeholders by acknowledging current strengths.

✅ Identify quick wins to build momentum.

✅ Align improvement efforts with your organization’s unique context.

✅ Create a shared understanding of priorities across your team.

As leaders, it is imperative we focus on understanding and optimizing our current state (AS IS) before jumping to solutions.

As promised,

I’d like to recommended to you my step-by-step actionable strategies to help you leapfrog to the next maturity level.
