Congratulations on completing your self-assessment! Evaluating your current state is an important first step toward making improvements.

Your organisation is currently at the ‘Level 3 – Standardised’ stage of Business Process Capability Maturity.

Business Process Capability Maturity Levels

In a nutshell, this indicates –

🔴 Processes are well-documented but may not be fully optimised for efficiency.

🔴 Standardisation is in place, yet there are gaps in proactive improvements and structured methodologies.

🔴 Data is regularly collected but not fully utilised to drive continuous improvement.

🔴 There may be cultural resistance to further changes, hindering progress.

🟢 Strategies are needed to optimise processes and ensure they align with strategic goals.

🟢 A structured approach to leveraging data for improvement and overcoming resistance to change will enhance effectiveness.

🟢 Focus on fostering a culture of proactive improvement and utilising data insights will drive operational excellence.

… and while these challenges might seem daunting, addressing them is a critical step toward achieving a mature and efficient organisation.

Understanding and strategically advancing As-Is Business Processes Capability Maturity is a game-changer for any organisation.

Let me tell you something.

You can’t fix what you don’t fully understand.

Without a clear understanding of your current process maturity, you risk wasting time and money on solutions that don’t provide the desired results.

Before discovering the power of a structured maturity assessment, I observed that many organisations lacked a clear direction.

Days were filled with –

🔴 Endless meetings trying to coordinate disjointed processes.

🔴 Frustration over repeated mistakes and quality issues.

🔴 Budget overruns from inefficient resource use.

🔴 Ad-hoc improvement efforts with little to show for it.

➡️ The toll on morale, productivity, and the bottom line was immense.

The problem was always the same.

Organisations tried to solve their process inefficiencies by throwing new software, tools, or consultants at the problem.

… without first understanding their ‘AS IS’ state.

They pushed for wholesale changes without fully grasping the nuances of their existing processes.

… which only lead to resistance, wasted resources, and often, regression rather than improvement.

However, by starting with a clear, honest assessment of your AS IS capabilities, you –

✅ Build a solid foundation for sustainable improvement.

✅ Gain buy-in from stakeholders by acknowledging current strengths.

✅ Identify quick wins to build momentum.

✅ Align improvement efforts with your organisation’s unique context.

✅ Create a shared understanding of priorities across your team.

As leaders, it is imperative we focus on understanding our current state (AS IS) before jumping to solutions.

As promised,

I’d like to recommended to you step-by-step actionable strategies to help you leapfrog to the next maturity level.
